My name is Nikki

Nikki Green

–About yourself

I live in Australia and I’ve been doing this kind of photo #manipulation and matte painting art for most of my life. I’m a third year graphic design student hoping to finish in the next few years, but I support myself through my art. I’ve been doing these since I was 12, I think. I started with #Microsoft Photodraw! I eventually got Paint Shop Pro, and I got #Photoshop but I was too scared to use it for a long time. When I did, I never went back. These days I use a combination of Photoshop CC along with Paint Tool SAI for some digital mediums, but I tend to stick with Photoshop as it is the most versatile and has all the brushes and textures I need, as well as the power to do bigger and larger works.

I still love horses and I miss them. I own two dogs and I love them to bits. I also love storms and sunsets, photographing them and learning to photograph lightning is a hobby I’m trying to learn, though lightning can be downright terrifying!

I am also left handed =)

–Information

Nikki Green, no portfolio online yet! It needs updating before I can display it.

–How you come in painting/art field

It started as a fun hobby, something to learn, and slowly became more of a serious part of my life, and now everything I earn while I study comes from art.

– Why you are mostly using horse for manipulation.

To answer that, it is at the moment what I’m commissioned to do. I’d like to branch out, but I’m not able to spend much time on personal art right now and these are all at the moment commissions for clients who want them of their characters they’ve designed =) It is what I’m most comfortable with as well, but once University finishes for this year I’ll be able to do more and see what else I can do!

–Do you have social profile or page?

http://nikkayla.deviantart.com is my primary area, though I also have Instagram (nikkayla1608) and hope to expand to Facebook and other social media as I expand further.

–Which is your first art work

–How much time you spend in a week

A lot! I spend from 3 hours a day to 12 hours a day, depending on the art and what my schedule for the day is!

–Tools of work

I used #Adobe #Photoshop CC and Paint Tool SAI on my computer, and my tablet is a #Wacom Intuos Pro.

–Do you have qualified degree in relevant field?

I am currently studying for a Bachelor of Graphic Design.

–What you do other activities in daily life

I love to paint sometimes, though I don’t do it often. I enjoy photography, especially of storms and sunsets, and my dogs and other pets, and I love nothing more than to curl up in a comfortable chair with my dogs during a big rainstorm and read or watch a show on Netflix. I’m not particularly social, I don’t go out much.

–Currently are you working with any company or freelancing

I am not working, but I freelance in a way. I take commissions from anyone who wants my art =)

–A message for newer designers/artists

Never, ever let anyone tell you that you can’t do something. #Designing and #painting, with whatever media that you have, is a great outlet and is something that people are lucky to be able to do. Talent is something that is practiced and learned and added on to over the years… so never let anyone tell you that you did is wrong, never worry about mistakes, they are an important part of doing art! And most of all, enjoy what you do!

–Your inspired artists

I have so many in life. When I was younger and 16 years old, I was inspired by an artist named Ruth Thompson. Now my inspirations come from my fellow artists in the same field I am in on #DeviantArt and there are too many to name. Each and every one of them inspires me in some way.

The few people who I talk to a lot and inspire me every day not just artistically though, are a small group
AmoretteRose
Russell
Blushie
Collie
Ali
Mia
These people I can talk to about anything and are always there, and they’re all fantastic artists in their own right, and I wouldn’t be where I am now without them.
