How did you come into the painting/art field?

When I was very little my dad showed me how to draw little stick figures on the etcher-sketcher. I was watching from the opposite side of the table so I ended drawing everything upside-down. I really got into art when I was 10, I picked up a “How To Draw Manga” book by Peter Gray and I was hooked.

Your workstation?

Currently 2 fancy laptops, Wacom Intuos Pro and a pile of books. My #workstation can move around a lot but it mainly consists of those three things.

How much time do you spend in a week?

Depends on the day! I usually draw for 6 – 8 hours a day. I draw for a living, so I guess you could call it work. Monday to Friday usually consists of Gym, work, lunch, work, more food, one hour video-game time and then personal time. (Usually movies)

Tools of work?

#Photoshop CC, Sculptris, PSE 7.0, Manga Studio Debut 4, watercolours, acrylics, pencils, inks, pastels

What other activities do you do in daily life?

I love to play piano, watch movies, work-out, explore/sail and I actually watch a lot of educational videos. I like to challenge my brain.

Are you currently freelancing or working in a company?

I’m currently freelancing on a few projects (for books and video games). Although I’d like to work for a big company in the near future.

Do you have a message for newer designers / artists?

Practice, practice, practice! Keep all your old, terrible drawings and sketches, don’t throw them away. It’s always nice to see how far you’ve come, and how much you have improved. It takes time! Also, I can’t stress this enough, keep a folder full of references and things that inspire you.

What artists inspire you?

I’d have to say Marc Brunet (Cubebrush), Omar Dogan and Evan Lee. They are absolutely splendiferous, I love them. But I have so many artists that inspire me I couldn’t name them all. I have tens of thousands of artworks and references handy. It’s great to look through them when you have art-block, or need some help on anatomy or lighting.
